On 1 January 1998, the date of liberalisation of the Spanish electricity market, OMIE began to operate as an organisation. It set wholesale electricity prices for each hour for Spain and Portugal, trading in the daily, intraday auction and continuous intraday market. Since then, we have been present in its history, developing and maintaining the information system that makes this trading possible.
The market operator's computer system implements the processes of market trading, administration, configuration and analysis.
We have grown alongside OMIE, contributing to the creation of a system based mostly on open technologies, including, among other functions, receipt of purchase and sale offers issued for each hour by the different players involved in the daily electricity market, receipt of guarantees, the matching of sale and purchase offers, the settlement and communication of payments and receipts, and communication to the operator of the system of offers and results for each of the programmed periods, allowing for all this activity to be performed in accordance with the principles of independence, transparency and objectivity required of our client.
Since December 2015, OMIE has also provided IT services in the gas market, and we have also contributed to the development, maintenance and evolution of the information system that supports this activity.
In 2020, we extended our collaboration to other group companies, in this case the Portuguese OMIClear, developing the Portuguese Integrated Guarantee Manager for the Portuguese Electricity System, which is currently being implemented in collaboration with our Portugal office.
Our aim is to continue to build trust in OMIE and continue to contribute to its development and growth as an organisation, providing value through the knowledge and experience of our professionals.
